Token Density

cognitive-interface-architecture / token-density

Definition

The ratio of constraint-bearing tokens to total tokens in a prompt. A high-density prompt encodes maximum constraint value per token: every sentence carries a bound, a guardrail, or a context anchor. Production target: ≥0.60.

What this prevents

Architectural answer to "instructions buried in low-density prompts get ignored." A model reads the whole prompt but attends most to the densest, most constraint-rich sections. Low-density prompts dilute their own instructions.

The Agent Control Architecture Pack includes deployable system prompts, AGENTS.md templates, and fully-worked BYOP rebuilds that operationalise every precision term.
